Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition

I saw Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition (which comes with an expansion pack) listed in this week's Circuit City flyer for $18.

1. Is it worth buying and playing?

2. Are people still playing it online? What are the North American player counts like?

3. Is there any such thing as custom, user-made maps and mods for this game or are players limited to stock maps?

after applying filters (populated, not full, no password, ping <250) i still get over 200 servers. i don't know if it's worth 18, but i think was worth the 10 i paid.
no custom maps that i know of, but then i haven't looked.

Unless EA/Dice got rid of the Spyware, I wouldn't recommend the game even if it was 5 dollars.

it's not "spyware", though it is adware absolutely. in any event I never notice it.

Also, the ads can be disabled fairly easily. though supposedly if they "find out" they can revoke your license. But that is very unlikely since lots of people have been doing this and not a single person has been "banned" for it.

yeah, the ads aren't very noticeable at all. They blend into the background very well.

Only stock maps, although SOME servers MIGHT have custom maps. But I doubt it. I may have seen one before or something but I highly doubt it.

It's well worth it. I have vanailla 2142 right now, but if they have the deluxe version at CC for $18 I might have to go buy it.

It only has one CD key.... I was hoping to upgrade my existing account. I'm about to scrim another game but I think I'll have to reinstall tonight. Two games SHOULD equal two CD keys. GG EA.
