Well no, not if your in Oregon. Besides the tax, you would still be saving some money on not having to pay shipping.

I'm in love with BF2. I think it's a great game. With flaws, obviously, but flaws happen in every game, and every player has the same flaws to deal with, so it's not like I'm getting screwed over. You just gotta adapt.

That being said, I'd love to play 2142, but I REFUSE to play a game with in-game advertising. The big issue I have with in-game ads is that all it does is give more profit to EA. If the ads were there to support the costs of running servers, it would be different. EA doesn't run the servers, users do. Therefore, ads are bullcrap. I know EA's track record enough to understand that being fed advertisements while being a dedicated fan of their games won't get bugfixes faster... or won't get bugfixes where needed for that matter... it hasn't reduced the price of the game, nothing of the sort. It's just more money for EA.

I played the demo. I thought it bit hard. The fact that are giving away certain unlocks for who you buy the game from is stupid, too. Once again, just a way for EA to make more money. EA will reset your stats for unfairly gaining stats... but they want to give people stats and medals and crap for profit. WHAT A CROCK.

If it means I don't get to enjoy the game, fine. You guys have fun with it... I'm not buying a game to get advertised to.

Games laden with ads usually end up sucking, IMHO.

You'll be waiting quite a long time. It took BF1942 something like 3 or 5 years to get to that mark in general.

If something is popular, greedy EA doesn't like to lower the price, even if its an older game.

1.) In-game "spyware" which tracks the advertising data of websites your browse, then post relevant advertisement in-game (example, if you browse numerous car-related websites, it might show a automobile advertisement in game, like maybe on a billboard on a map).

Wrong. According to EA this site does not access anything on your computer that is not game related. That includes cookies. http://forums.easports.com/mboards/thread.jspa?sls=2&tstart=0&threadID=133500

I would suggest you print out the online page and take it with you when you go to make your purchase in case the B&M doesn't recognize the lowered price of the game.

And yes, I realize that BF2142 comes with "spyware" (pfft-try playing Planetside).

I suspect that by blocking a certain port(s) (?) you could possibly block the spyware from doing it's intended job.

Not to say that in-game ads are ok... but how do you know that the $$ from the ads isn't going into the support costs for future patches?

If it were any company besides EA... I wouldn't have said it.

EA cares about money. Not their customers. I've been told by some clan members that have been playing 2142 that it's already a buggy POS... I'd bet we don't see any fixes until April.... AT LEAST. June is the safe month in the betting pool.
