battlefield 2

Juno

Lifer
i installed and patched it to 1.4. i loaded bf2, it showed the logo then proceeded to the black screen and all of the sudden, it quitted to the desktop. it was sort of a surprise to me. i cannot figure how to get bf2 to work.

my specs are:
x2 3800+ windsor
2gig ddr2 800mhz
7900gtx 512mb
400gb (combined) sata2
powered by seasonic s12 600w
running on winxp sp2

now, tell me what's wrong with this problem that i need to solve. i want to play bf2!

You might try deleting the BF2 folder in My Documents... It has your profile in there as well as screen settings. If you have any screen captures, they get saved in that folder as well, and you will want to save them elsewhere before deleting the folder.

i deleted the folders and have my punkbuster updated. it still "crashes" to the desktop.

You should post your steps so someone else can get the fix if needed. I remember something like this happening, and I did what Buck_Naked said, delete the cache and everything was good, until it crashed for some other reason after X hours of play.

I agree with Childs, you should post your resolution so if anyone else has the same problem and does a search here, they might find the answer...

Thats how I found out about deleting the folder in My Documents... but I read quite a few threads before I found the answer.

Glad you got it figured out though!
