Battlefield 2 v. Battlefield 2142?

I don't think BF2 is that bad, but I've mainly played it at LAN parties, not online. BF2142 is an overpriced ripoff with ingame spyware and loaded with bugs, avoid at all cost.

2142 just looks at your IP address, and it's about as buggy as BF2. How long have you played 2142?
 
Well consider how long BF2 has been out... where it stands at v1.4 it is much better than it was when it came out. Pretty damn good game.

I guess I don't qualify given your thread summary, but from the 2142 demo, I'm NOT buying it. I'd rather play Tribes, heh.

You can get BF2 for $30, or less maybe from the FS/FT forum. And I really like the Special Forces expansion, so for $50 or less you get both of those compared to just 2142, which is not as polished IMO. Plus the infantry sucks in 2142, which is my favorite part.

Just load DC back up if you feel the need to play something again. I to played alot of DC back in its day and bought BF2 twice. First time I played it for a few days and could not stand it. It just seemed unbalanced so I sold it. About 6 months later I decided I'd give it another go since I figured I didn't give it a real chance. Well second time around I gave it a couple weeks of playing it daily and just could not stand it. I ended up selling it to.
 
Stuff emm both, never found emm that much fun. Half life 2 deathmatch and when i eventually get good at it CSS ftw.
 
I am sticking with BF2.... I don't feel like paying anymore money for what many are calling an overpriced mod...
 
Everyone who is sick of BF2, as I am, should download the PoE (Point of Existence) mod. This makes the game actually worth keeping.

I think that's fairly common. BF2142 also picked up a bunch of new players. Oddly enough at least half of BF2142 players aren't veterans of BF2, at least judging from the veteran icons.

I like both games. I think BF2142 is better balanced, but I found BF2 unlocks a bit better with regard to rock-paper-scissors gameplay. Win some, lose some.

All ads and tracking can be easily blocked so that's no big deal.
 
Tough call. Personally, I'd stick with BF2, great great game, and BF2142 is too new to even consider especially the way EA works.
 
BF2, I am not sure what it is about 2142 that turns me off, but still really like BF2. Mods are still coming out for it so it stays pretty fresh.
 
I'm still playing BF2, though everyone I work with has already jumped on the 2142 bandwagon. I don't plan to buy it simply because it's the same gen of graphics, merely a different variation. I personally like the kind of game BF2 is.....army type stuff, rather than future type stuff. I like tanks, helicopters, and jets....no need to play a game that has titans, mechs, etc....fun stuff just not my bag. If I win the lottery and finish school, I might change my mind.

Where is the link for signing up for veteran status? You would think it would see BF2 on your system and do it automatically.

EDIT: NM, found it, and it looks like I got screwed by 2142 again. Getting veteran status after you already got promoted gets you squat. There is too much BS with 2142, stick with BF2.
