Why doesn't Battlefield 2 allow me to do 1280x960 on DVI but it allows me to do it on analog? This is a little bit of a dilemma because in DVI I can enable the black bars to appear at the bottom and top of the screen to run true 1280x960 on my 1280x1024 LCD. Analog doesn't allow this. Anyone know how I can make BF2 allow 1280x960 on DVI?

1280x1024 support in Battlefield 2 demo

This info was found on another forum and hasn't been tested but , I'm told it works.

Start BF2 with a shortcut with the following switch:

"[driveletter]:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 Demo\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

This works with widescreen resolutions as well as 4x3(ish) aspect ratio stuff, I'm currently running 1920x1200 without a problem. Smile

"[driveletter]:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 Demo\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200

Some Tricks and Cheats for uber-popular Demo
Collected around some tips to enhance your Battlefield 2 demo experience; EA has a winner coming, expect huge ratings and awards around. All the tips below don't require any hacking and can be done by a mildly expert user.

1) Intro removal
go to EA GAmes/battlefield 2 demo/mods/bf2/movies and move somewhere else or rename (or even delete) the demo_*.bik EA.Bik and Nvidia.Bik
not really generous versus people that brought the demo but undoubetly saves load time.

1280x1024 resolution
change game shortcut to "bf2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

I'm running BF2 at 1680x1050 using this shortcut editing method, works just fine for me.

It doesn't work on DVI, only analog. But I guess I can just run analog then and use this trick. I wish I knew why it won't let my monitor run at full resolution on DVI (or at least 1280x960).

No, this trick DOES work on DVI. My LCD is connected via DVI and it works 100% for me.

Well that sucks...because it doesn't work for me. Hopefully it's a bug, and they'll fix it in the full version.

Do you think it could my graphics card, I have a 6600GT, but you'd think it'd at least show up as an option on the video menu.

I have a 6800GT. No those resolutions don't show up in the menu. Use the shortcut truck described above. Works like a charm.

(BF:2 Demo only shows up to 1152x864 for me as options in game)

Is the FPD correctly installed with the manufacturer's INF file? Is 960 available for the desktop? What viddy card?

960 with matting works with my Viewsonic/AUO 1024 max FPD and Radeon (scale to panel size disabled).

I went into the "Screen Resolutions & Refresh Rates" section of the drivers and I added 1280x960 with various refresh rates as custom resolutions. Now 1280x960 shows up in BF2 even with DVI and now that trick for 1280x1024 also works. I have a 6600GT btw.

Do you think you could help me out then? I have the same exact problem as you did using my DVI and LCD on an X850 XT PE.

I would REALLY appreciate any help, maybe over AIM or MSN?

I will gladly even pay you a bit if you can out the time to help me get this game running on my new LCD. I am that desperate to get it working. This goes for anyone who can help me.

I have tried the shortcut trick, editing the video files. NOTHING! Game loads up at 800X600 to play the video, then as soon as I click single player or multi back to windows I go.

I have also disabled full screen and get the same error every time I get kicked out. Dynamic assertion something or other then it lists the resolution it is trying to run. I have tried them all from 640 on up. Is this a refresh rate issue or something?
