Quick question for you BF2 gurus.

I've got a lan party coming up, and the plan is to play BF2. I'm going to be buying the game this week, but here's my question. A friend is going to attend, and he owns a DVD copy, but the disc is ruined. Will he be able to use his key with either a CD or DVD copy, whichever I happen to buy?

I could forsee some strange copy protection stuff where the keys for DVD version won't work for CD versions. That's why I'm asking here first.

thanks.

Good question. My guess will be that he should be fine and that there isn't a CD/DVD difference when it comes to Key's.

I'm guessing the same thing, but would hate to find out otherwise. I'm sure once we get there people will have both versions, CD and DVD, but he wants to get some practice in ahead of time. ;)

he should be fine. As long as he has his own key, installing from any dvd/cd's is fine (at least from my experience it was. I have all my keys in my gmail, lol)

Are you buying the game so that you can play too? Because you need the disc inserted
to play, so both of you can't use it at the same time. What you can do though is if one
of you has the Special Forces cd, one can use that to play the regular BF game (I do it
all the time) which is nice so that I don't have to switch CDs if I want to play regular or
the expansion pack.

hmm, dph1077 makes a good point. My friend's scratched disc may be good enough to get past the initial disc check, he just couldn't install off of it completely. We'll have to try it.

Since it's a lan party we are going to, I'm sure people there will have copies of the Special Forces addon, so we could go that route too.
