I've been considering this game for a while now and finally got it last night (my friend didn't want it anymore and sold it to me for $15). Anyway, I was playing it for a while, without patching, just fine. Then I figure I would apply the 1.03 patch and play the new map. So I install it, reboot, double click. The sceen goes black and flashes a couple times like it's gonna kick into some intro stuff, but stays black. No sounds, just black. Then, it kicks me back to the desktop, no error message or anything. Try again, same results. Black screen, couple flashes of black, back to desktop.

My rig is in my sig, and yes I have all of the latest drivers, yada yada yada. Note: it worked fine unpatched, but crashed when I tried to patch it. Bad download perhaps? Anybody have this happen to them? Any ideas?

Try deleting your profiles. Looking at your computer cross-eyed is enough to FUBAR BF2, and clearing out existing settings sometimes helps.

Well maybe he upgrades every other generation and is waiting for Nvidias 8xxx. Or perhaps he just bought his fx-57 and is planning on upgrading his rig either way his rig is future proof. And a 6800gt with an FX-57 is plenty for todays games.
