Battlefield 2, mutli core aware?

Is Battlefield 2 a multi threaded game?

I tried to turn off hyper threading on my P4 to see if I get better performance but I think it actually was worse.

I didn't find the answer in google so maybe this thread will be a google result for future searches.

I may be wrong, but I think that a second Core does help loading maps faster in BF2, or perhaps it's more a question of RAM, but from my own observations I don't think that the actual game-play takes any advantages from a dual-core CPU, but I'm not absolutely sure about it. What I did noticed back then when I switched from a single-core AMD to an X2 then the time needed to load the maps suddenly got cut in half or so, without adding any RAM.

I was actually just thinking about this yesterday while watching my task manager while playing BF2 and watching the usage graphs for both cores on my E6420 spike while loading maps and playing the game. With my CPU usage being 60-75% while playing it leads me to believe that BF2 is multicore aware.

I went from an A64 3000+ to a E6300 and really didn't notice any difference at all. The biggest difference was going from 1GB RAM to 2gigs

Do you have to enable multi core or something? I have a Mac Book Pro Core 2 Duo Pernyn and so its dual core. When I'm in Windows playing BF2 it seems to be as slow as on my old pentium m dell in terms of map loads ands tuff. Do I have to do something to enable it??

I've never heard of anything like that for this game unless it's something new. Get more RAM. BF2 likes at least 2GB oh and defrag. BF2 has to load a lot of stuff. All this will help.

I went from an x2 5000 to a core 2 E6600 to a Q6600 - Noticed no difference in this game

Not only is BF2 not a multi-threaded game, EA claims that running BF2 on a multi-core processor can cause problems.
I've never noticed this personally but come match time i don't take any chances, i set BF2 to Core0 and all other apps running to Core1.
