I searched for someone with a similar problem and did not find anything, so forgive me if this problem has arisen before.

I just got the game installed today, and whenever I join a server, a couple minutes after playing it will kick me back to the multiplayer screen and say connection to server lost. no idea why it is happening...

there would be no dealings with port fowarding on the clients end. it sounds like it could be a punkbuster problem or some internet connection issue. are you playing via a wifi setup? also, do you have 1.12 patch?

try this server - bf2.sytes.net

just put this into the ip address and you should hit my dedicated server. you will be on alone, but just see if you can stay on longer than 5mins...

update punkbuster. this is usually the problem.
although i still got it sometimes after updating pb, so its probably just the sh!tty BF2 coding.

I agree with pontifex, punkbuster can be the culprit... but it is most likely poor coding inside of BF2... I too, get disconnected from servers from time to time... Most of the time I can just reconnect and everything is fine, sometime I can no longer see the server in the server list... go figure...

original. I think it is a problem with my system, I think the onboard ethernet. I'm going to add a pci card sometime tonight. I had a problem with another game, not sure if its the same type of problem. Hopefully it isnt anything more serious.

what utilities are out there that test systems and their stability? I want to make sure my cpu isnt getting too hot, among other things

when i first build a system i run prim95 torture test for ~12-24hrs straight and also loop 3dmark05.

this does not sound like a heat issue though because your entire machine would become unstable if it were, not just the network connection.

i will go ahead and turn my bf2 server back on for you to test it out, or anybody else who wants to play with all the weapons as the server is unlocked.

good luck :)

i jumped in and did see your guy, he was just standing there :D and watched my router. there was definately a connection for a long time probably at least a couple of hours. i just figured you disconnected when i saw that the router leds were not blinking anymore. i was probably on at about somewhere between 11pm - midnight, az time

Usually this kind of problem is either onboard audio, too little RAM, firewall/anti-virus being turned on, or Punkbuster not being up to date.

don't forget to reboot your modem/router every once in a while....

the last time i was getting "lost connection" from BF2 (1.12 patch) i did this... has worked very well ever since.
