Battlefield 2 is good stuff, but have a question.

How can I set the resolution to 1280x1024 in battlefield 2? I remember doing something similar to this for BFV but would like to know a method that works for BF2. Any help would be great!

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

The above should do it, just modify that to work with the link to the game on your system. You may also have to go into the VideoCONF file and modify the POV settings to better fit your screen.

i add that and it just takes me back to the destop after the first splash screen.

Did that to me too until I restarted the computer and has worked fine since.

OT:
the "Dynamic shadow" option is not working properly on my system. it is showing big boxes of black shadows... am i the only one experiencing this?

Well, if you turn other stuff down you may be able to get shadows.

On the other hand I got my new card yesterday and shadows are fine at medium. Haven't tryed on high...Yet

I had that problem with the 71.89's, but the 77.30's and up fixed them on my 6800GT😕

Shadows are blocky except for NVIDIA when using the drivers included with the game.

1024 is not supported and forcing such simply results in vertical stretching.

Why would you replace a 6800gt for an x850xt? unless you really needed that tv tuner or you had alot of extra money.

If I'm not mistaken X850 XT does not come in AIW (tuner) flavour, only the X800. In any case, the question of minimal performance difference remains.

I don't think it would be worth it to upgrade. You can probably overclock your GT to more than respectable levels like I can if you really needed the extra performance. I haven't left my card overclocked because I just don't need the extra performance. Now since BF2 is out, I'm thinking about just leaving it OC'ed so I can run slightly higher settings.

yeah i have a x850xt and i see those blocky shadows youare talking about, i thought it was just the game, cause running through forested areas is sweet looking! but sometimes its very pixel looking...odd...and if i turn it down, you dont get the individual shadows, just blob shadows

I really wanted to try something little better, and I am building a pc for a friend so it really didn't cost me too much ($60).

What needs to be done to the VideoCONF file, just find the resolution reference and change it?

Is anyone successfully running at these higher resolutions? When I modify the .exe switches to 1280x1024 or higher, I see no difference.

Anyone know a) when the BF2 patch is coming out (the one that adds favorites and such) and b) whether there'll be selectable resolutions in-game higher than what's show as max?
