Gamespot article.

With the game being made by EA, and them hitting their longtime late June launch, it's kinda got me worried. I expect this game to be unpolished at the beginning, with some mid-minor problems happening. It always seems that EA tries their hardest to hit launch dates that they've set way in advance, and if they do get it, the game ends up lacking somewhere.

Let's hope this isn't the case.

It doubly worries me because of the experience with BFV. BFV literally SUCKED for about the first three months after launch. There were SEVERAL issues that existed in BF1942 but had been patched out months before BFV launch (grenade jumping was one, but there were many) that made it into BFV 1.0. There were also some VERY obvious balance issues (like the laser sight accurate M60 when shooting from the hip and heli rockets that would kill you from 20 yards away.)

I am not anxious to be an early purchaser of BF2 given what I saw with BFV. I'll see what the PlanetBattlefield and TPF forums have to say after release.

Looking forward to this one also. Is that a new trailer on the Fileplanet website?

The first one was sweet. I also hope they make an xbox 360 version and see how good it can look

This one is being made by DICE (who made BF1942, not BFV) and some of the Deserct Combat mod creators. Sorry man, but I doubt this will disappoint.

If anyone needs a clan send me a PM. We already have quite a few AT members joining us, but keep in mind we only want mature gamers.

I think you mean DICE Sweden. BFV was made by DICE too, but DICE Canada.

The dictator of the ship date though is the publisher though (EA) who ALWAYS rushes things out before they are ready. They don't allow the developers to push back, they just ship what they have. Don't forget that DICE has since been bought by EA. EA has the final say here, and chances are they are pushing this out before it's ready.

I WANT to be wrong, but based on past performance, I'm not holding my breath.

I doubt he means a specific age, I think he just means someone who isn't an ass-tard who camps vehicles, types in leet-speak, and smokes his bong for all to hear over Teamspeak.

Basically, yeah. Someone who doesn't hog the mic constantly for no reason would be nice too. Also, it would be nice if your voice has gone through the change as hearing a 10 year old talk on a mic is somewhat painful. Altogether we just want good people who can play well in a team environment without pissing everyone else off.

That's not a trailer on fileplanet - that's the opening game video.

I'm with Concillian - I felt really burned by BFV, especially since they claimed it was a new engine, when it reality it was pretty much the BF1942 engine with grass. Balance issues like the M60, the lack of a personal SAM for US forces, etc pretty much ruined the game for me. The only reason I played as long as I did was because I played on a private server with a bunch of guys and we had fun screwing around with the physics and vehicles.

I'm waiting until after launch this time. There's supposed to be a demo, but I won't be able to play it since my Ti4200 won't run the game.

What really sucks about these team-based games is that on public servers, RARELY does the "team-play" kick in. Its 99% every man for himself action but you happen to have the same color flag to protect as 50% of the other players. If you are lucky enough to have access to a personal. dedicated server (I miss my old TFC server I ran) then the games can be EXTREMELY fun no question. Hopefully the "commander" mode in BF2 helps this out, but I dont have incredible faith in it.... I mean it IS still EA.

Did you not play 1942 when it was first released?
It was horribly buggy. Just as bad, if not worse than BFV's initial release. I mostly blame EA for pushing it out before it was ready. Although DICE is certainly capable of crappy coding. They made that clear with one of the 1942 patches that made the game worse for the vast majority of people. Don't get me wrong, even with the bugs, I was immediately hooked and 1942 is still my all-time favorite game. But it was definitely not ready for release and I'd be willing to bet BF2 will have issues as well.

Exactly. BFV is fresher in everyone's mind, but BF1942 was no picnic after release. It sorta has an excuse because of the new gameplay style.

This is why I am not olding my breath on BF2 being good out of the chute. IF it's good, it'll take a couple patches to get there. I am still hooked on WoW, so I'll give BF2 a few months.

In all fairness, I didn't play BF1942 until almost a year after its release. I tried and tried to get the demo to run, but stupid EA and their refresh-rate bug (that still exists in the most current patched version of 1942) kept me stumped as to why the game was crashing to desktop.

I've gotten burned twice buying games on launch from publishers pushing them out the door (Tribes 2 and BF:V). Actually, Tribes 2 probably wouldn't have ever been released if it wasn't shipped when it was - since Sierra closed down Dynamix like a month later.

Edit: Also, I've seen screenshots of people supposidly downloading the demo from some bittorrent site. If they're real, the demo is 750mb.
