I hope my rig is up to it.

Umm that's a really really sick system. Is it for real or is it just something you wish you had? If it is real, how much it cost? Only problem I can see is that it's a rendering machine. The vid card might not hack it for games. Haven't seen benchies tho.

The Battlefield series has decent graphics for its time, too bad the gameplay is so slow and boring you can't stand playing it for more than 5 seconds.

It was about $18k

I have a X850 XT PE in it also. I worked as a game dev, so I would do 3D modeling, texturing, rendering, and game engine testing. The Realizm doesn't do well in actual engines. You can see benchmarks here and here.

Wasn't chaotic enough, didnt actually look that good. Nothing like going all out on realism and graphics only to have an anti personel/area target m203 gren launcher take out a tank =/

plus people flew way too high into the air, and also the m249 should take a guy down much quicker than that at point blank =/

if you can't tell those little details always irk me. other than that the other videos actually looked good. Playing this on a 64man lan server would be a ton of fun.

Meh.....looks like DC mod for BF1942.

It is DC.

AFAIK, They hired the DC team, wrote them a sweet new graphical engine, and told them to go to town. It's really DC 2, not BF2. No matter though, since DC was probably the sweetest game of 2k3.

Agreed. DC is such an amazing game, not some BS with wizards and dragons, etc... a decent, realistic game with stones.

I'd say the hardest part was mastering the choppers, but over time it's now common to see average pilots in most servers with a few damned good pilots every so often.

Personally I can fly the choppers no problem and can attack effectively with all the aircraft. I'd say my biggest weakness was shaking someone off who was on my tail. Anyone got any sneaky tactics? Slamming on the airbrakes sometmes works, also, going into a spinning dive then randomly pulling up makes it harder to tail you.... that's about the best I've come up with.

they one thing I don't like about DC is if your team has no pilots, you're screwed. It's way to hard to shoot planes down from the ground
Nah... You've got the mobile AA units (shilka/pansyr/vulcan), fixed AA guns in the bases, shoulder mounted SAM and of course the Patriot/SA-3, not to mention the regular browning(?) mounted machine guns on the tanks/vehicles/bases. Very easy to take down all the aircraft if there's a little teamwork going on. Anyhow, if you're in a tank you only need support to take out the frogfoot/A10 or attack helicopters as the fighters are only effective at shooting down other aircraft and not armoured units.

I can't wait to get this game. I think DC is the only game that I've ever considered superior to counter-strike.... and I love counterstrike...
