Battlefield 2 Hard Freezing my System

Hey guys,

Battlefield 2 has really been pissing me off lately. So when I try to join a game, right when I click "join game" and start to play, my system locks up hard... cntrl alt delete doesnt even work, and I have to hit the reset button.

It had been working fine till I updated my motherboard bios to v5 (Chaintech VNF4 Ultra). What else is weird, is I reinstalled the game thinking that that might fix my problem. After I installed it again, it actually worked fine... till I rebooted later on and the same old behavior started again.

Same thing also happened when I installed a new sound card... I played BF2 just fine after the install, but when I rebooted, same old story.

Hopefully someone can shed some light on a possible solution, since I'm pretty confused at the moment!

I'm thinking it's some obscure BIOS setting that was reset during the BIOS flash that is conflicting with BF2...
 
It's been really lousy today. Their login server and game browser is lagged to hell. Think I'll go to Civ4 today instead
 
Most probably unrelated, but I was having a similar issue with BF 2 that disappeared after installing a new Power Supply. Definately the last thing to botherwith. It's the last thing I had on my list to try.
