Battlefield 2 (full game) online lag

I got the DVD edition of Battlefield 2 yesterday, installed it, and hopped into an online server. I immediately noticed it was horribly jumpy and lagging. I checked my ping, expecting in the 1000s, when I saw it was around 12. I thought it might have been the server, so I went to another one. Same thing happened. After 5 or 6 servers, I gave up. Could it be that it was the first day, so everyone and their mom was playing, so it lagged? Still, I heard that it was lagging on a LAN server. Anyone heard anything on this? A patch? A fix?

Cliffs:

1. installed BF2
2. started playing online
3. horrible lag on all servers, but good ping
4. don't know?

I was getting bad lag last night as well. Especially on the EA Ranked Servers. I get great gaming out of the East Coast Gaming Network servers for Counter Strike: Source but their's was horribly laggy for me. It took a few tries but I finally found a non-ranked server that didn't give me any lag last night.

I played during lunch today as well with almost no lag.

Are you only getting lag on ranked servers?

Maybe there is a problem with the ranked servers creating lag.

I dont remember if they were all ranked, but it's possible. I'm going to try several more servers tonight.

Got lags and crashes in rank servers. Then found a non-rank server and it was smooth. EA got lots bugs to fix.

packet loss?
low ping + high pack loss = worst than high ping

And thats why I am waiting a few months before I guy the game.

Well what bought me is the screen shots (amazing gfx), a GameSpy review of 5/5, previously good exp w/ BFV, and a sale price of $38 at Fry's.

Ok, What little ive figured out. When you spawn the first time, hide lay down and pray, give it 20 sec or so. Now Im good to go, If your not start tweaking your settings down. Now I'm finding after 2 or 3 battles (the game not the demo, battles last longer) I start lagging again (3400+amd 64, 1 gig ram, NV3 chipset, 6800gt) [my hard disk is active at this point, I assume I'm pageing ] . If I quit and restart I can do the same thing, thats is an hour or so with good responce. I think I need more ram (this was on a server [ranked] that was changing maps after ever battle]. Kinda sounds like crappy coding huh? Any way well figure more out with more expierence. My recomendation? Expect some inital lag, This should pass, If it dosent start tweaking your settings down untill it does. Shawodes seem very bad, just turn them off.

I don't think its mine (our) computers..demo ran fine, and the retail ran smooth for the first few hours..then I tried playing around 5 eastern yesterday, and its been laggy ever since.
