Who flys with a joystick? Dont you find it easier with a mouse? I recently realised my joystick is a waste, its hell of a lot easier just to use the mouse for movement. Dont you think?

MUCH better to fly w/ joystick. I never fly w/ the mouse. It's harder, and you can't keep a turn w/ a mouse. I can't aim, fly, and do nothing w/ the mouse.

It's sooo much easier to bomb and dogfight w/ the joystick. I can tell if there's a guy using the mouse due the plane's jerky movements. People who use the mouse to fly are sooo easy to shoot down.

Same here
Microsoft Force Feedback it has a good feel and more then enough buttons.
Only wished the game supported a Hat Switch so you could pan your view while flying.
Some of my friends use the Logitech force feedback stick and they like it. But it just does not seem sturdy enough. The old thrustmaster sticks were great to bad they are not around anymore. Microsoft quit making Joysticks about 2 years ago I believe which is too bad they actually made some decent products.

For Jets I can dogfight pretty well with a mouse. You just have to think alot more about your movements. Helicopters on the other hand, much easier to use a Joystick... For me at least.

I'm pretty much an expert at flying a helicopter with a mouse. Did it for BF1942 w/Desert Combat mod, and now I'm doing it with BF2, so I've had years of practice.

I think mouse + KB for flying at all in BF games is for the birds...I say Joystick for Planes if you have it, other wise, KB only. I.E: WASD + Arrow Keys...and KB is better than joystick on the choppers, I think.

I only use joystick. I fly helicopter pretty well but I avoid the jets because I get shot down so easily. I don't know how people do it... but there's some secret to avoiding getting shot by missiles which no one is telling me. So until I find out, jets are a death trap for me!

If you're in a helo by yourself, hit F2 to switch to the gunner seat if you're being targeted by jets/stingers. This will cause them to lose lock. Of course any decent pilot will be able to use machine guns, and easily kill the weakend post-1.2 helo.

I use the old thrustmaster topgun fox2pro joystick. I don't think no other joystick compares. the new ones out today, esp. by logitech, are way too flimsy.

I use only guns on heli's. missiles only hit them like, two out of 10 volleys of missiles.

In air-to-air your only real option is tv guiding. The only time u should bother using your hellfires are when your reloading your TVs, the other chopper is very weak, or you're hitting ground targets. Nothing is more annoying than gunners that don't tv guide other choppers.

sorry, I think i wrote my post incorrectly, lol.

What i meant was, while i'm flying in a jet, i don't really like to use missiles against heli's, since they'll miss for sure, and hit a friendly flying object instead.

of course as a gunner, i always use the tv

i use a PS2 like control pad (saitek something)

the dual analogue sticks are prett usefull for flying choppers. (ie one for pitch/yaw the other for power/rudder)

it works for the planes to, though i tend to find myself moving both sitcks in the same direction lol, things get abit tricky then.....and i usually crash

i love doing that

the other day on wake2007 some dude had a black hawk full of guys, going out far right (hoping to sneak in) and i saw him, got the pilot to follow.

aimed the TV guided missile about a body length infront of the BH, fired......slight adjustment......bam.....makes such a OTT kill.

however i find the TV guided missiles hard to control, especially firing at tanks.

but i think the solution is to fire it above them, then aim it down at the last minute

I use a Saitek X52, before that it was some random Saitek joystick. My flying improved dramatically when I got the X52....am I supposed to be able to barrel roll and loop-d-loop a helicopter? lol....

Even if mouse or keyboard could be equivalent in every other respect (which they cannot), they would still lack variable throttle. Ergo, joystick ftw.

when i played, i tried using joystick with the jets but its too hard for me. maybe i needed to figure out how to adjust sensitivity because i can't hit anything when using a joystick.

its definitely better for trying to fly around though, more precise control.

What I really need is a a time-slowing device for when I fly. I dont know how people do it but by the time I see some potential target on my screen and verify it is en enemy I have already flew over them! Then when I try to bank to do another fly by same thing happens, I am looking around trying to spot the target and by the time I notice it it's already too late!
