okay, so i've had bf2 for a while now and it ran just fine. Just today it started acting up, lagging, choppyness it even crashes when there is like a lag hang and my computer makes a weird buzzing noise (im holding down a key to run forward during the lag) everything shuts down, power failure. Anyone have this problem?

Hmmm, that sounds weird. How about amy other games? so far it sounds to me like your video card or your cpu is waaaay over-haeting.

check your cpu and gpu fans. maybe one is dead.
it does sound like overheating though.

There seems to be a rash of system freezes while trying to play BF2 that appear to be related to punkbuster. (I would typically get the freeze that you are describing trying to use the squad/kit screen at the beginning of a round.) Try playing on a non-punkbuster server and see if you are free of problems. If you are, try going to evenbalance's website and find the information and download for doing a manual update of your punkbuster files. I think this worked for me, though I haven't played enough since the update to say for sure.

Like you, I had been playing the game fine for months before this problem suddenly appeared this weekend. I hadn't played for a few days, so I suspect the problem was with Friday's punkbuster update.
