Battlefield 2 100% viewing distance?

I'm playing the BF2 demo, if it makes a difference. The problem is that "100%" viewing distance seems to be pretty limited -- like I can see a great wall of sky just a little bit in front of me while flying. It's extremely annoying, so I want to know if someone can check for me just how far their viewing distance really is with 100% enabled. I did this by creating a local game on the Gulf of Oman map by flying straight at the carrier in the sea, and checking my distance from it before it pops up on screen. It seems to happen between 450 m and 500 m. Could anyone please check for me how far their 100% viewing distance actually goes?

I need to know if my video card is not just rendering things like crap...

Nah. 100% view distance is not far at all in BF2. Its normal

I know, but I remember it being a lot farther than what I am seeing now. Still, I'd appreciate it if anybody could test this for me.

They reduced the draw rate in one of the recent patches.

Well, I just checked with a friend, and we got the same results. The carrier just barely started appearing at about 450 m, then was mostly fully in view at 400 m. If the retail version seriously has a lower viewing distance than this, then WTF?! It should be increased, if anything.

Worse, the view is inverted-cone-esque so that peripheral vision is greater than directly ahead. So retahded.

Someone told me not to set it to 100% because of a bug or something...they recommended 99%. I never asked why because 99% was above the default.
