I've had the game for about a year and just recently it's been starting to "lag" online. However, my ping averages 60 and my fps averages 30-50 (with a lot going on at the screen). Nothing changed. I just got new drivers for my card and a virus update for Mr. Norton. I uninstalled each of them and that was not the problem. It looks like I'm lagging: the sound gets choppy and the game play itself gets laggy, the "stop and go" thing. I could be in a house with a zoomed sniper rifle and it is bad too. I don't have a clue what is going on. I called tech support and they said it was packet loss. The problem with that is it's been fine for a year, why now? Any ideas/help please let me know.

Packet loss can occur for a number of reasons, including a bad cable modem.
Download the demo of Visual Route. It is a traceroute program and is a good way to check your connection. You can set it up to repeatedly traceroute any IP and it will give you a graph showing each hop and any packet loss that occured between hops.

Does this happen constantly or sporadically?
If it is sporadic, run Visual Route as soon as it starts happening. If you have any substantial packet loss, call your ISP.

Have you checked task manager?
try sorting by CPU time and see if there are any processes hogging the CPU.
You may also want to do a Google for each process that is running to find out what it is and whether or not you need it. Some spyware and even non-spy background processes can cause major performance problems.
I installed a Broderbund game for my kids and it put DSSAgent.exe on my machine. I tried to play BF and it was completely unplayable. I checked the net and found out that DSSAgent.exe is spyware used in a lot of kids games and it just hammers your DNS servers and can really bog down your system. When I removed it, all was well again.

A lot of cable ISP's are now putting various spyware on their customers systems. So I would definitely find out what every running process is and get rid of those you don't need.

Yeah, that's a really good question.
If it's laggy in single player, it's something on your system, if it runs nicely, then it's something about your connection.

true.
It was released in September. That's not even 6 months ago. The demo was probably out 2 months earlier.
