Battlefield 1942 v. 1.6 cannot play on new system??

Ok here is my situation...

I just finished putting together a new system, Epox 9NPA Ultra +, AMD Athlon 64 3000 Venice, 2 gig of memory, 80 gig SATA drive, DVD Rom...

I had to update the bios in order to get COD and BF2 to play correctly, I updated every driver that I could think of to the latest however for some reason I just cannot get Battlefield 1942 to play....it just hangs at the title screen.

Every other game I have tried works fine so far, Battlefield will hang at the title screen and eventually lock up my system causing a reboot...and it is only after I apply the last patch, if I don't patch it the game plays fine...

Any ideas/suggestions appreciated as I just don't get it. Thanks

I got this one, you forgot the video card !

I just installed this game on my 2 computers 2 days ago and it works fine here, do you have SP 2 installed?

Video card is a 6800GT evga card with the latest certified drivers...

like I said, game will play unpatched however as soon as I apply the 1.6.19 patch it will just hang at the title screen and crash the system...every other game works fine...

When I send the error report it says I have a major hardware failure with either my power supply, motherboard, or processor...

sorry, I hope someone else can help you better, have you tried redownloadng the patch and reinstalling it I would try the smaller one thats out.

I got it figured out...seems like after the update BF1942 accesses the CDRom alot more and my DVDrom sucks nuts...installed my secondary CD Rom and everything is cool now...Sucks cause I only wanted one drive. Oh well.
