I run BF1942 at 1280x960 with 16x AF and 6x AA. The problem is that it makes text in the game (like team chat and kill notices) display wrong. Like, the letters look kind of bold and fuzzy, or sometimes they're so faded you can barely see them. Is there a way to fix this? Everything looks normal if I turn AA/AF off, but I'd rather keep it on.

Some specs, just in case:
BF1942 v1.4
Windows 2000 Pro
Latest drivers for all hardware
Athlon XP 2500+
512 MB DDR333
Radeon 9800 Pro AIW

TIA

I think it's the AA alone, dont know if AF affects it since I don't use it with my Nvidia card. I'm upgrading to ati9800 in next couple days so I searched around for more info on this(could only use 2x on old card anyway so I went without).

From what I gather its something that has been around since release that the developers haven't fixed. I would hope it would at least be fixed in battlefield vietnam, otherwise I'll be pissed heh.

Anyway, as far as I know, nothing can be done about it, if I'm incorrect on that I'd love info on how to fix it.

I think the solution with this problem is to enable "Alternate Pixel Center" somewhere within the ATI control panel. It doesn't fix the problem 100%, but it sure helps you to read it.

this is a known issue and the latest patch corrected some of the problem, but thier official stance is to turn off AA and AF with ati video cards.I have found with my 9700pro that the using the balanced setting on the slider will let you have some eye candy on and still see the text, albeit a little strange looking, if you put the slider all the way to performance the text looks great, although items in game are quite grany.
