My son just got around to opening up and installing his 2 year old copy of Battlefield 1942 (a birthday gift he put aside and never got around to).
Now, he's trying to play over the internet with his cousin, but cannot connect to a server. There is a full list of servers shown, along with number of users, name of server, etc., so I know the game *is* connecting to the internet to retrieve that info. But, he keeps getting a "connection failed" message everytime he tries to connect to a specific server.
We are using an old Sonicwall (original SoHo) firewall. I've set up services and rules to open the ports specified in the users manual and on the battlefield 1942 website, but no go.
Is anyone running this game successfully behind a Sonicwall? I did a google search and some posts that are over 4 years old indicated that internet game-playing is not easily done on the Sonicwall.
Any help is appreciated.
TIA
