Battlefield 1942/Desert Combat multiplayer woes ("Data differs from server")

When I try to connect to a public server, before it can connect, it'll kick me out with an error message dialog of "data differs from server"

Before I put myself to the hassle of reinstalling everything, can anyone tell me what's wrong?

It has connected fine before and I can't see what did I do wrong.

Edit: Add the line game.serverContentCheck 0 to \Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings\ServerSettings.con.

Edit2: Nope wrong fix :( That's a server-side fix. Help?! It has probably got something to do with the no-cd crack I'm using. Anyone with successful BF 1.5, DC0.6f and no-cd crack working fine?

I'm assuming your BF1942 is v1.5 and your DC is 0.6f? Sounds like a version thing.

Yes and yes. I thought that there might be a new patch out, but I would've found that announced here first ;)

Yep I did. I suspect that I was able to connect to 0.5 servers/maps even when I have 0.6f installed.

if you're trying to connect to a pure server and using a no-cd hack that's probably it. the pure servers don't allow any tampering with the files, to prevent people from using aimbot type hacks. it was implemented to stop all hacks but it only really stops the aimbot/coloring hacks.

rip an ISO and mount the image with daemontools...I am unaware of any no-cd hacks that work....that is most likely your problem. I know, I hate the wasted diskspace too :(

I have reinstalled it and now I'm using DaemonTools to mount my image created using Alcohol 120%.. problem solved. But still, it'll be good to free up the space taken up by the CD images.
