Hey guys if you like reading about the Battle of Hastings than I found a great site... www.battle1066.com . i dont know if every single fact is true but they all sound true and im like half way through the whole thing (its huge, it'll take days or weeks to read all of it depending how often you go there) . but anyway Its written pretty well and starts off with why/when the Romans under Julius Caesar invade britain, then how they fight the celts and other tribes there and whatnot, then goes on from there up to the battle of hastings, basically a history of Britain and why everything was like it was leadin up to the battle and how the defenders, attackers, etc got there.

Hastings...... the darkest day in the history of England🙁

I like to think Harold Godwinson survived the battle. But all was lost either way...... the English had lost their sovereignty.

But you have to give props to Harold, he may have lost Hastings, but he won a great victory a few weeks earlier against Harald III's invasion of England, people tend to overlook that.

Btw I heard on the history channel that when the sun started going down, William ordered 20 knights to go in after Harold and go straight through his Huscarls.. Earlier Williams archers had been wasting arrows at Harold's "shield wall" , but William redirected his archers to shoot deep into their ranks passed that.. and one of the arrows caught harold in the eye. It did not kill him, instead it just pissed him off and later William sent in the knights to slay him.. what happened i'll let you find out 😉 its pretty interesting though
