Killzone 3 rumored for 2010.
Gears of War 3 likely in the "Holiday Season"
Resistance 3, if following the trend, will see a November 2010 release.
Firstly, Killzone 3 will most likely use the same engine as Killzone 2, possibly with a little extra polish. With that in mind, seeing it released no more than 18 months following the last game isn't much of a stretch. They have room for the story, and it's guaranteed K3 WILL happen, just when. This will be the first sequel on the same console for the series, so hopefully it's worthy of being a true sequel and not just cashing in while they can - specifically, not something of Halo ODST style, but rather a game with equal weight.
Gears of War 3, well... Epic is Epic and they can churn games out like that with ease. Gears of War is a formulaic-based series, and has a development process Epic is quite comfortable with. Not taking away from the game and company at all, but Epic is a powerhouse. Oh and I forgot when the second one released, and now I remember a Late 2010 release would be a 2 year time line, something that will come with ease as long as Epic desires that release window.
Resistance 3. This is probably the only up in the air release. And I say that even when with Insomniac Games having the reputation they do.
Every other year has been a Resistance title on the PS3, and every year in between has been a Ratchet and Clank title. With a new R&C releasing this year, following the formula would mean an October or November release for Resistance 3.
But seeing as it's potentially a series ending game (I believe they stated it was always meant to be a trilogy, side titles like the PSP title not counting), one would hope they decide to devote a little more time.
The studio is famous for devoting full effort on one title, and then when that wraps up moving on to the next. It would be fitting to get a little break in finally with the release of the new R&C, and to give them time to really make Resistance 3 an epic closing chapter.
At least, I hope. I feel like I NEED Resistance 3 to be epic.
Killzone 2 offered more engrossing gameplay, and I feel like using that same engine for K3 would at least bring that same quality to the table.
Resistance 2 offered a more varied, tried and true Insomniac presentation - mixing action, platforming, and FPS. And the story was very enjoyable. For the story I think I like the Resistance series more, although Killzone I have always thoroughly enjoyed - I like the more gritty epic war style that Killzone brings to the table. Hopefully K3 would take everything great about K2 and improve upon everything. And seeing as how R2 was far and away better than the first Resistance (imho), and how Insomniac always delivers the same base level of quality as a starting point... ... i don't know where I was going with that.
Gears of War, honestly, has never held my interest. It doesn't help that I do not own a 360 (I think the first GoW was released on PC, wasn't it? don't feel like looking that up at the moment), but the game has polish for sure. Just, never offered anything other than it's signature gameplay imho, and even then, I can only handle so much from Epic - everything from them tends to feel the same, just gets a slightly different twist.
