Socket 939 Athlon 64 3500, 1 gig ram, Radeon 9800 Pro ( Agp ) 128 meg,
Gigabyte board. Cable broadband connection. My cousin is courious
about how well he will be able to play with this setup. He does not want
to buy the game if he's gonna get clobbered playing it online. He has played
it at a game cafe on thier computers and likes it but the computers they
have use X800XL pcx cards but only 3000 cpus.

He should be able to run it at 1024x768 with medium settings. I used to have a 9800p on an Athlon XP rig, and it would get around 45fps average at those settings, but that was with 4xAA and AF. If you turn it down to 2xAA or no AA then it would get higher fps.

I run it 1280x960 fully maxed , aa , af , all that stuff and i get over 80 - 90 fps =) but any way, a 9800pro will be fine for bf2, my friend plays it and he has a p4 3.4ghz 1 gig ram and a 9600xt and he runs it fine 1280x960 with view distance max but aa off.

9800 Pro is fine, just don't go nuts on visuals and it should be OK at 1024 or so anyways.

Most engines these days scale VERY well, so to say if a certain system would be able to run on a certain game is not a good question. The main question is what kind of settings can my game play at and what fps.
