im not a EA fan for 99% of the time but now ill make the exception along with Burnout 1,2,3

ive just come out from under my work and revision rock for a few minutes to discover BF2 will be released on the 24 of june

i thought id check it out and now im seriously going to be buying this game it looks simply amazing!!!!!

now this is my rig, and i expect that BF2 will hammer even the best top line systems

A64 3200 NC (2.2Ghz 512Kb)
1 Gig of Geil PC3200 value ram (clocks to at least 250mhz tried in my friends P4 board) timiings are 2.5 - 4- 4 - 8 and 1T
a Leadtek 6800GT @ ultra
Audigy 2

id expect im ready to go, but i saw some reccomended setup lists that put 6800 class GPUs as the recommended....and i thought crap

minimal means its unplayable and recommended means it'll run half decently

On Gamespot, they said they were playing smoothly on a 9800 Pro and 3 Ghz Pentium 4. They were running more than 1GB of RAM though, so other than that you should be able to play this game really well.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I would guess this game will be similar in terms of performance to HL2. I'm running a AXP2500 overclocked, 9800pro and 1Gig of RAM. I think I should be able to play at medium setting without a problm.

I read a review at gameSpot saying they played it on a P4 3.2Ghz w/ a 9800pro and it ran very well on high settings. The link is in our clan forums so you can come on over & check it out. We are accepting new members in anticipation of the demo's release here in the next couple of days.

yeah it seems CPU and GFX may not be the problem, in the interviews i watched on ea's site the guy was like for people who wanna turn the knobs all the way to full, you'll want a Gforce FX class or higher, in the online test suit they had like 30 odd dells and those 20 inch tfts...well sweet. i know my cpu pretty much hands intel some ass in 90% of gaming scenarios so thats fine too

i was thinking of filling that 3rd DIMM on my mobo.....but im DISGUSTED that ill have HALVE my badnwidth just to do so. i will not run DDR200 for the sake of an extra 512 stick, and i dont really wanna splurge on a 2Gb dual channel kit, since that will leave me with a 1Gb DC kit an no where to put it.

ill wait till it comes....if i need more ram, ill see what can be done

You won't be able to run HL2 settings without more than 1gb of ram, mark it down.

Maybe with the video turned off
It would depend on what CPU that is, a 1.5GHz Pentium M wouldn't be that bad, but a game like that would want a lot of ram and a good GPU to compensate. And even if it is a Dothan (the ideal processor to have if it is indeed 1.5GHz), it probably isn't likely the GPU is the best it could be. Mobile 6800s are rare matches for any Dothan, let alone a 1.5GHz one (Dell does use Dothan Pentium Ms in their XPS line...)

However I'd think you'd be fine even if it was a mobile 9600 or better, you'd just have to suffer lower resolutions and quality.

When people say they can't play a game with decent to powerful hardware, they more likely than not mean they can't play with everything turned up and with room to spare. (pisses me off, its like when people claiming they've failed a test when fail to them means a B instead of an A, doesn't make you feel good when you're thrilled you pulled a B)

this is abit like what im like. 6800GT has opened up the world of hi res + AA and AF for me...and i aint leaving yet :D but 2xAA is the most ive ever needed if that. if this game has fairly good anti aliased textures etc from the get go..i might just use 16xAF only and enjoy

Demo might be a day early, so start watching for it today. ;)

Again, 1 gig of ram is strongly recommended and more is definitely better for load times and overall smoothness. I can't handle any choppiness in a battle so I am going to add more ram ASAP.

It'd be nice, but I've seen no indication it's coming early. The Gamespy interview ad just says they will have it "when it becomes available."

Fingers are crossed here. I'd love to see it running tonight.

This is the first time I have ever heard someone say 2GB is recommended to play ANY PC game.....I am a bit skeptical, and how do you all know that for sure? I've heard both ways and like someone else said, its all up to perception of how the quality is during the game. I think 1Gb should be fine.
