I am currently running ME on my system and I don't have much of a problem with it. However, some stability issues do arise, such as the computer restarting without my doing so. I am considering reformatting my hard drive for many reasons (the list is endless), and I would like to know which OS you guys find reliable. I've read on some posts that 2K is worth going for, but since I'm a gamer, I wonder if 2K will support games as well as 98 or ME. What kind of features in 2K make it worth installing?

Stability, thats it. Games dont run any better on 2k, if fact, some may not run at all. I would go win98se for gaming.

win2k can run most games, and soon will run all games, and later games will require win2k. win2k can cause some games to run slower but the shiet is stable as hell. my friend has 2 o/ses ... win98 and win2k... he can leave win2k on for weeks straight where he is lucky if win98 runs for a week. since you are looking for gaming, you should stick with ME or 98. IF you don't mind taking a little performance hit to your gaming, you DEFINATELY should go with win2k.

Well you could have the best of bolth worlds, I have been running a dual boot system for a while now. I use win98se to play games and I use win2k to do all my other stuff.

I originally did what Hmagnet did but now I just use win2k for everything. The performance hit was not noticable to me.

Since you have an nvidia card, I'd dual boot 98se and win2k for a bit and if everything works in win2k, then only use that.

I'd be running win2k if ATI could make some win2k drivers that were comparable to win98 performance.

soulm4tter: No I didn't know of such a thing.

hey eagle have you tried the .dll file that supposed to bring Win2k performance up to the Win98/Me level?

I don't mind 2k for games, sure it might slow down a little, but I know I run HL better in 2k than I do in 98se. I like 2k much more than 98se, but for a real gamer you might wanna stick with 98.

Stability, Stability,Stability,
If Windows 98 crashes once every few hours, NT 4.0 crashes once a day, W2000 once a month.
