battery life on Thinkpad T40

for those who own the t40:

i've read that the battery lasts for 6 to almost 7 hours. Does anyone know if that's with the "ThinkPad T40 Series High Capacity Li-Ion Battery" or the basic "ThinkPad T40 Series Li-Ion Battery" the laptop already comes with? Is the "High Capacity" battery the 9-cell adn the basic hte 6 cell???

it's supposed to be with the battery that comes with it already. at least that's what it's advertised as. here people have gotten around 6.5hrs to 7.5hrs max on 1 battery i think.
 
The standard 6-Cell LiIon battery will get 4.5-5.5 hours depending on your usage. I have confirmed this on my own T40.

The 9-Cell LiIon batter is said to get 6.5-7.5 hours. This 9-Cell comes with the ThinkPad T40p (p for power and price 😛 )
 
While I have not timed it, look at it this way. I have it set to the brightest setting at all times. I use it plugged in at work (hooked up to T3). WHen I go home, I use the battery (using wireless). Rarely do I need to charge it when I am at home, unless it's the weekends or if I stay up late.
 
The 7 hour figure is for the 9-cell high-capacity battery. There's no way a regular capacity battery can power a T40 for more than 6 hours with everything at minimum.

I usually get about 3.5 hours out of my T40 on standard battery with LCD at low brightness, wifi/BT/cdrom/ethernet turned off, and no HD- or GPU-intensive tasks running.
When I turn on wifi/BT, turn up the LCD brightness, and use the cdrom or GPU, the battery life dips to 2 hours. Granted, my GPU is an M9 (for which a bigger heatsink is used than for the 7500), the LCD is a SXGA+ and is the main power consumer, so I suspect the battery life is quite a bit higher on models with XGA displays.
 
I have the T40 with the higher capacity battery.
can someone tell me what type of battery usage I can expect if I just use it to watch movies.
I'm flying to atlanta tomorrow and want to know if it will last me atleast 4 hrs.
i've never used it to watch movies on the lappy, though I use it to web surf/email/sniff for about 4.5-5 hrs
