I have a Pentax *ist dl which is about 5years old. I haven't used it the last couple very much. It seems that the batteries aren't making very good contact when I have tried to use it. It uses AA batteries. Its there a good way to clean the contacts to see if that cures the issues.

You have to remove the corrosion, it is insulating the battery and will eventually ruin the camera.

Pencil eraser

Radio Shack sells contact cleaner in a spray (use carefully) that is VERY effective.

Fine Sandpaper if it's bad enough corrosion.

Do whatever you do slowely and carefully.
