battery dropping 1% every 2 seconds

Hi ,

I have a notebook, not so old, probably 3 years old.
It is a Sony SZ640

it drops the battery life 1% in every 2 seconds.

I have checked the task manager, nothing huge was running.
"system idle" is the most holding up the CPU, which should not be taking up the battery life.

Startup manager is clean.

is it a dead battery or what? the machine is getting warmer and warmer.

Dead battery.

Similar happened to a 4 year old laptop of mine. From 100%, it drops down to 0% in about 30 minutes. Now, it can only stay up for 15 minutes or less.

Some batteries age better than others - I've had an older HP laptop that still holds about 40 minutes.

All in all, I don't really expect batteries to last anymore than 2-3 years and expect more useful life from them. At least, that's for regular laptops, sporting 2-3 hour battery life. For netbooks, with their insane battery life, I've no idea how long they can hold more than 3 hours, but by 2-3 years, I'm pretty sure from 10 hours they'd be down to at most 3 hours, and you don't want be stuck with a netbook then if it offers regular laptop battery life.
