battery causes p0300 misfire?

Low voltage certainly can cause misfiring.

I think we would need more info.

I've replaced my battery. Needed to be replaced anyway. the issue I'm experiencing is more of an annoyance than any real issue. every so often the car spikes in idle and while driving it does a slight lurch. I was incorrect about the code, it was actually a p0301 code. I know the car is overdue for new plugs so I'm going to change those and take a look at my vacuum lines.

COP (coil on plug) ? If so, multiple misfire is going to be ignition controller (ecu) or crank position sensor. Lucky you it's only #1 it seems. Swap the coil with another cylinder, reset code, see what happens. Chances are it wil go away completely just from messing with it.
