"Bats" ? New military weapon available for deployment in Iraq area

dxkj

Lifer
I recently heard from a friend in the military about a new weapon called Bats

A missile is fired low over the battlefield where there are enemy and friendly tanks, a number of bats are deployed from the missile, and they hover in the air, communicate to each other (and other bats from other missiles for however as many are fired) and they each pick a unique Tank target, and can tell which ones are friendlies and which ones arent. Then each one goes to a tank and destroys it, again one per target so no waste..

thats kinda scary 🙁 anyone have a link Im still looking

Its a pretty high tech weapon, probably costs a ton to use, a nice computer in each of those puppies, but damn, thats too sweet.... This pretty much rules out tanks being used a lot in the future doesnt it? Or maybe they alerady arent used a ton?

I didnt know that Global Security was "anti-American," I thought John Pike and a few others left FAS.org to start global security, because they thought that they were getting too political.

I thought that BATs got cancelled? The last I heard they had passed tests being launched by predator drones, but that funding got cut anyway. (I used to work for a company involved in making them)
