Great great great news today, check out this quib from Destructoid:

Length-obsessed gamers will be cheered by the news that Rocksteady's next Batman game, Arkham City, will offer forty hours of content, with the main story taking twenty-five hours to beat and sidequests requiring an extra fifteen.

"It takes over 25 hours to complete the main stories in Batman: Arkham City. To keep players engaged for this length of time, not only do the characters and the story need to progress, but the core mechanics of the game they are playing need to change and adapt as well", said game director Sefton Hill.

"The side missions in Batman: Arkham City are a good example. We have around 15 hours of story that's off the main path."

By all accounts, the game looks like it's going to be a thing of beauty, and the fact that there's plenty of it to go around can only be good news. I'm pretty stoked. What about you lot?

40 hours of gameplay! Yeeeeeeeeeah!!!!

You owe it to yourself to try it, Arkham Asylum was stellar.

Oh I'm gonna get it at some point. I just got a PS3 so I have years of gaming to catch up on. It's on the list of games to buy. Going to pick up a few games this weekend. Maybe I'll grab it then.

I borrowed it from a friend, and maybe I didn't get far enough into it but I've never seen a more hand-holding game in my life. Run here, jam A to kick down a door, climb thru a vent, oh wait, there's bad guys below! I bet my batterang will take them out! Press this now! Bam!

The atmosphere and visuals were great, the gameplay was horrid.

I won't say the gameplay was horrid, just too damn repetitive. Even all the boss fights were the same. I liked the atmosphere and voice acting was real well done but combat sucked. I'll eventually get Arkham City but only when it's cheap.

You know, Rockstead has stated B:AC is going to be more open-world than B:AA and I pray they get it right. I really want this game to be awesome. I loved the first one, so they cannot screw this up.

It's hard to believe B:AA was their first game eh?

Those shots look great, but am I wrong in assuming that they are not in-game screenshots?

The woman who voiced Harley Quinn throughout the aimated series and Arkham Asylum is not voicing her in City. That sucks as her voice has been cemented in my head as Quinn since I was a little kid.

Any idea why?

No reason is given. Also, Arkham City is the last time Mark Hamil will voice the Joker which is sad as well.

Yeah, I heard Hamill say this would be his last performance as Joker, that makes it even more shitty that Arleen won't be playing Harley. I wonder if it was monetary issues?

Man I hope not. Since BAA won a fair number of Editors Choice & GOTY awards along with selling a pretty good volume I wouldn't think that it would be too terribly hard to pay those two whatever is needed. I just really hate the idea that if there are future Batman games they won't have Mark Hamill voicing the Joker. I guess I could live with that provided the Joker isn't in the game since that voice is firmly cemented in my mind.

Not the last time I'm sure. I'd have to think he busts out the occasional Joker laugh when he climaxes with his wife just to freak her out. lol
