Batman: Arkham Asylum demo emerges this Friday, August 7!

A downloadable demo of Rocksteady's detective comic brawler Batman: Arkham Asylum will be available worldwide this Friday, August 7, publisher Eidos announced today.

The demo will be available in three flavors--PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360--with the retail version of Arkham Asylum hitting the same platforms August 25. As the PS Store is usually updated on Thursdays, don't be surprised if the demo debuts a bit early.

The download, which kicks off as Batman delivers The Joker to Arkham Asylum, is said to sample the "Invisible Predator" stealth and "FreeFlow combat" mechanics, as well as provide a glimpse of the "infamous foes" players will face off against in the full version.

I can't wait to finally give this a shot!

Awesome. I was ready to buy this back in May, then it got delayed. Now, not so much, but maybe the demo can get me interested again.

I've gotten sceptical about this game after the accusations of payola that were flying around a month or two ago. That usually doesn't bode well for the quality of a title. Screen shots look good though but I'm holding off my enthusiasm until I get my hands on the demo.

Saw a playable demo if this at a BB a month or so ago but there were two kids playing it and I didn't get a chance to see what it was like.

Never been particularly interested in the title though.

Yeah.. I was really looking forward to the game until I read about that.. You're right, if those reports are true (which they seem to be) it doesn't bode well.

Played a demo of this at a PS3 kiosk about a month ago. I recall that the animations were really jerky and it couldn't keep a consistent framerate. The fight mechanic didn't seem all that exciting, either. Maybe it was just a really early build.

I was of the same mindset when I heard about the review situation, but releasing a demo weeks before the game hits gives me the impression that they have some faith in their product. I'll certainly be checking this one out to see how it is, seeing the demo hitting this early leads me to believe at the very least they think it is worthwhile.

Are you guys referring to this? Not sure how it's different than any other game release. Generally speaking, publications that give high scores usually get to release their reviews early.
