Rocksteady says they now know of the issue and are working on it? What system were Rocksteady using to get their DX11 working right I wonder?

http://community.batmanarkhamcity.com/forums/showthread.php/10585-PC-DirectX-11-Issues-Please-Read

"We have received reports of performance issues from players of Batman: Arkham City on PC. After researching the matter, we found that running the game with DX 11 is causing the performance issues. We’re working on a title update to address this matter and expect to make it available in the near future."

Glad to see it wasn't just me. I just assumed DX11 was too much for my single GTX 580 at 2560x1440. I wonder if that really is the case or if they can optimize it a bit to run better on current gen hardware.

I think its the lighting effects thats messing it up. I have a GTX 580 to and notice it stutters when turning around lights. The game plays fine with kb/mouse btw.

I'm surprised how awesome the game is. I keep finding new way to kill people. :D

PhysX brought modern systems to a crawl even in Arkham Asylum. The Scarecrow platforming boards in particular; forums were lit up w/ posts about slowdowns to a crawl. Happened on my rig too - just disabled PhysX and everything was great. Wonder if its something similar?

To be honest, in AA I couldn't tell what PhysX did anyway - game looked and played fantastic w/o it so ignorance is bliss I suppose.

I'm running everything @ 1080 maxed, except PhysX on normal, and no DX11 - totally butter smooth gameplay. Enable DX11 and it stutters like crazy, but I don't think it's a lighting issue, because if I spin the view it stutters the first and second spin, but after that it is smooth if I spin for minutes. Seems like some kind of loading issue to me, like pop-in but for DX11 effects.

The stutter almost always occurs on the last hit to the last enemy (slow-mo kill shot), which I'm guessing is tesselation popping-in on that last enemy as the view zooms into them.

Killer game though, even without DX11. The combat is even deeper then the original, and when you pull off 40+ combos with 4 gadgets and numerous moves, it really feels sweet. Totally worth retail price imo; great sequel.

I have a single gtx 580 OC @870MHz pushing only a single 20 inch 1600x900 monitor.I run bf3 at 70+ fps withe everything maxed and I stutter running Batman ac w/ or w/o physx on,definitely a dx11 problem that the developer needs to fix. This game doesn't even stress my card,it draws about 80% gpu and uses 768vram.bf3 uses 100%gpu and 1 gig vram. Crysis2 uses 100%gpu and 1.5GB vram and both bf3 and crysis2 het consistent 70+ fps yet Batman ac won't go above 62.1 at all with sync off. Something don't add up.

Running on DX10 and I've had no issues whatsoever. Shittiness not found.

Make up your mind what you're running it on, but it's an easy trick to advertise DX11 support for PC only to ship with DX9 only{console spec}...IOW, sounds like a shitty console port, yet again!!!!!!!!!

If your only basis for judging a game is which version of DirectX it supports, good for you. Graphics still look great in DX9 to me with zero glitchiness. The game runs, it's fun, it looks great. Shitiness not found. Plenty of nitpicks though with people like you around.

Sounds like you'll tolerate almost anything:thumbsdown:

Well, you are in Australia. You already have to tolerate government censorship of violent video games, guess I can see how not having effective DX11 could put one over the edge on top of that. ;)

Crysis2...delayed DX11 and then when delivered, it was monumentally inefficient.
DXHR....has DX11, but GFX are ordinary.
Skyrim.....laughable DX9.....no DX11 in sight.
Batman, delayed for PC, released as DX9.
RAGE.....laughing stock of the year.
DNF....another laughing stock, but outdone by RAGE.

One thing I'm still curious about is whether you can play the whole game as Catwoman once you've done a full playthru?

That hasn't been my experience. Not that I think it's a bad port, but the game has very noticeable hitches and slow down when you move too fast. The rest of the time it's fine but it's often enough to bother me a bit.
