i dont get it. there was a problem with bathroom shortages for women; it was solved. what's so bad about that?

True, but schools can't spend more for men's sports than for women's, even if twice as many men want to play basketball as do women.

The problem is that if you take away 1/3 of the guys rooms at most places I can think of, the guys will get screwed over and be the ones waiting when places are crowded.

Funny that you cant spend more money on things that guys use more than women (hint: college sports), but when women "need" more facilities than men, its time to make yet another pointless law

Yeah, but I mean, come on...it all equals out in the end. You don't have to use leave at work for Maternity Leave.

Working for a government agency, I can say that its much, much harder to get fired if you are a woman, though.

Hence why the men's Tennis program was ended at Texas State Univ. (former SouthWest Texas State Univ) a few years back, due to the # of scholarships had to be equal to females. For god's sake'e we had a freaking football team. It takes MORE players to have a football team. This while equal rights thing is being abused. Freaking cut a tennis program that had been there forever. Hence why I had to switch schools afterwards.

While we're at it, do they want more, bigger mirrors also?

Women just need to learn how to use urinals. Here's a guide how to to pee while standing and the physics seem reasonable. Women claim we men can't aim anyway so there's your parity.

They should get a big trough that they stand over. Then 10 women can use it at the same time. Problem solved.

I dont check womens restrooms but I thought designers had this figured out and most new high volume buildings have more/larger womens rooms

Damn straight. If men have to deal with troughs, so should women. Oh, wait, now the feminazi's will talk about the physical differences between men and women.

Complete equality my @ss.

Women might get more bathrooms, but it should be free market style. I don't agree with any law regulating bathroom ratios. Maybe one regulating that bathrooms should be clean, but that is a public health issue, a little more tangible.

Lets face it, if women want more bathrooms they are entitled to use their free market power to patronize businesses that provide them with more facilities. If they do this, they will get more bathrooms.

On the time note, there are freaking couches and ledges and big mirrors and tons of accomodations in women's bathrooms. If they stopped making them more like coffee houses and more like a place to take care of 'business" then in and out times would be shorter.

All those ammenities put the "rest" in restrooms, though, doesnt it? Give them troughs and see how long they loiter in the bathrooms.

I'm a big NCAA and Olympic wrestling fan. i enjoy going to see matches. trouble is many colleges are cutting wrestling because they need to reduce the amount of mens scholarships. they couldn't increase the womens. nobody cares to watch them.

What I would like to see happen is they split the federal/state/local funding down the middle between men and women, but then any private donations can be steered to wherever the donor wants without affecting the rest of the budget, AND any revenues made by a sports program are that program's $$ to keep.

My office has 21 women's stalls, and about 15 women. It has 18 men's stalls (plus 6 urinals), and about 200 men.

We also have ~15 handicapped parking spots, and 1 handicapped employee.

It is rare (although not 100% unheard of) for anyone that does not work in the building to be in the building.

Explain THAT logic to me.

women what equailty well i want the same number of bathrooms, i get no extras you get no extras hows that. Also that is a HUGE waste of money, bathrooms are not cheap to build.

It's a law that 1 out of every 20 parking spots needs to be handicapped, no matter what the building is. But you're right, the bathroom part makes no sense. 🙂

hmmm. They think it's all fine and dandy to take over some of our restrooms. We should just keep waltzing in there like they are still ours, see how the women like that.

I agree with the poster that said it should be up to a business to decide. As long as they have enough for basic accomidation, then whatever.

It's not my problem that women take a year to do God knows what in there. It's not my problem if women have to go more. While I understand the basis of the argument, I think it's a total load of crap. Should we give women shorter lunch breaks or make them work longer hours because they are more likely to take longer bathroom breaks? No, we shouldn't, but descriminate one place and we lose all meaning for preventing descrimination in others.
