Okay, so there's this program called Bagpipe Player. Its native file format is .bww, however it will convert .bmw files (made in Bagpipe Music Writer).

Here (direct link) is a Zip file of ~1700 tunes in .bmw format.

Bagpipe Player doesn't have a batch conversion available. Is there any way to convert all of these en masse to .bww? Changing the extension doesn't do it. I'd rather not open each of these tunes one by one.

Well, the program automatically converts them as they are opened? So the first question is obviously why do you want to convert them all to begin with. It supports both formats and will open and convert when necessary.

If you still wanted to convert them all, would a script that opened each file in sequence do the trick? If so that could be written, but it would be hell on your memory....

A script sounds like a great idea, and I could run it on my 2GB dual Opteron system :)

Eh... so I go to get the program to test the script and I see this... and I'm thinking d'oh they've already got you covered.

Converter Utility

It's a utility that just mass converts BMW files! You just load them all up, do convert all and then save all. Bah :)
