I'm trying to come up with a pun, but I'm at a loss. Oh well.

Based on images and video, a wildlife expert who provides support to the center said the small creature was a free tail bat that likely had a broken left wing and some problem with its right shoulder or wrist
I recognize wrist problems like that. It's from playing too much video games.

I recognize wrist problems like that. It's from too much browsing for porn.

Same thing that happens to sound coming from the astronauts mouths while traveling at the speed of sound.

Sound is relative to your immediate surroundings. As long as the astronauts are within a bubble of air that is traveling at the same speed they are, the sound should come out normally.

If it had been stowed away inside the shuttle and they lift off, the astronauts could perform an experiment by letting it fly out the airlock. I would watch that footage.

I'm surprised PETA didn't try and stop the launch.

They've had animals land on the shuttle before liftoff all the time, but usually they take off once the several million pound thrust engines light up and start making a little noise... The launch facility is actually near or in (can't remember) a wildlife sanctuary.

Edit: They think this bat may have been injured and couldn't fly off.

Exactly. The weightlessness is the thing that will mess them up, their sonar will work just fine.
