Based on the tire compound, the small pubic hair on the left front tire's inner-most tread, and the DNA evidence from the spittle nearby.. I have undeniable evidence that you slashed your own tires in a ploy to create this thread and thereby speak of the "Type R" badge that you seem to be so proud of....

OR

Some idiot just slashed your tires because it's a Prius with a Type-R badge? 😉

Most people I know (who know about the Type R crap) get a chuckle, but one guy walking by one day obviously didn't understand. He was VERY interested in my car, and asked me if the Type R was stock or an aftermarket mod. 😕

Just as a joke... but maybe someone did take the joke the wrong way. Maybe it's time for a Type S sticker...

OK I admit it. I took off the sheet metal spoiler for the pic and replaced it with the stock one, since I was too embarassed to post it here.

Anyways, as is probably obvious from the picture, the licence plate is a Photoshop job, but the sticker is indeed real. I haven't heard any snarky comments from my dealer yet. 😛

Dammit, checked around and yep, the tires have to be replaced. Sidewall, so no to repairs. :|
 
It'd have been even worse if they scratched your car! Hope you have two spares to tide you over . . .
 
somewhere there's a ricer board with some dude posting about how he slashed a ricer's tires because he was dumb enough to put a TypeR sticker on a toyota

scary thing is, i know kids who take street racing imports so seriously, that something like this doesnt really surprise me

Nope. Just leisurely pulled into a public parking spot without any other person going for it. IIRC, there were a couple of other spots too.

What gets me is the fact that this was done in broad daylight with a bazillion people around. On the busiest street in our second Chinatown. If any of you have seen our Chinatowns you'd know what I'm talking about. Tons of people walking by all the time. Mind you it wasn't exposed to the sidewalk. The tires punctured were on the driver's side.

I'm out a few hundred dollars. :frown:
 
several years back my entire neighborhood experienced random acts of vandalism. some punks painted black stripes over white fences, slashed the tires of newer and nicer cars, and shot paintballs at cars. it was just really unfortunate that my two driverside tires were slashed on a car i had purchased the month before 🙁
