Bastage father! (or how I learned to love the cold)

Him @ 10PM: Your mother and I are heading out to a party up the street. Make sure you check on the fire every so often and take care of the dogs.

Fair enough, right? I start watching the fire every 30 mins and check on it. Then I realized...WTF is the extra wood. Arsehole didn't bring any in... who the fvck does that? You ALWAYS bring enough in for the night!

Blah...the pile is too far from the house and covered in snow. Screw fumbling around in -30F temps, darkness, frozen pile of wood and the knee high snow. I'll sleep in the cold thanks.

and fumble with a flashlight trying to split it too, right? no thanks! 😛 (and yes, it hasn't been properly split yet)

1. Who the hell heats thier house with only a wood burning stove? It is after all 2004.

2. You say you don't want to be cold for a few minutes by going out side, but are willing to sleep in the cold when the house freezes over? WTF?

3. Do you have a cat?

They put a roof over your head and food on the table, get off your lazy arse and get some wood.

1. No gas is available here. Wood is much cheaper than the baseboard heaters, too.

2. It isn't the cold I abhor but the other things I listed

3. No, but I do have two plump golden retrievers that might work if you and I are thinking on the same wavelength :Q😀

One of our farm houses is primarily heated with a wood burning furnace.... though we do have a fuel powered furnace and a Bryant heat pump in the same house. The wood burner just has firing priority... right now the heatpump is offline, and AmeriGas is taking the freaking sweet time in refilling our fuel supply, so the emergency furnace isn't going to do us much good, either. :disgust:

I've got several friends that use only wood burning stoves in their houses for heat.

No kidding! I might hate nothing more than having to go outside and get some firewood from the garage, but I know that it has to be done... there's no way I would even think of letting the fire die.

1. You don't have access to gas, but do have internet? That my friend is messed up. 😀

2. well, you are forcing your poor parents into bringing in the wood. THink of you mother chivering tonight when she come home. 🙁 Your dad doesn't need to bring in the wood in those conditions. You are the young sturdy stock. Well, actually, I guess you're a putz. 😀

3. yes, the dogs will work. The question at hand is whether or not the the dog is cold. If you don't know the state of your house, and if you do know that the dog is in the house, the dog must be 100% hot and 100% cold at the same time. Once you check to see if the dog is cold, or warm, you have changed the state of the dog. It is no longer 100% both hot or cold. See? Everything is clear.

ok already, I take it back. For the record, I would like to use wood to heat the house, but I would keep the 50 year old gas furnace pumping for backup. Mostly for those times when I don't bring in enough wood for the night. 😀

actually it's too warm. now i am really cold now that i've moved out because I am used to that heat which is much warmer compared to most heat apratments around here put out

When I was a kid, we had a huge wood burning stove in our basement that we would use to heat our house in the winter. It worked great, We had natural gas, but we didn't use it much because it was WAY to expensive. (Wood is nearly free if you cut it down and split it yourself).
