They're definitely comfortable. I think they're a good value too.

Some people love Bass shoes, and they are definitely quality shoes, but they just never seem to fit my feet correctly. Not a single Bass shoe I have tried has worked for me :(

Try them on first. Of course, this goes for ANY shoes you buy.

Best place to get them is at one of their outlet stores.

I've bought Bass shoes at their outlets before... I think they are well-constructed for the price.

According to the TSA people I have spoke to, if you wear them to the airport take them off and put them through the x-ray machine. It took them a year to tell me this, and I had already figured it out on my own. Bass puts something in their shoes (probably a metal shank) that always sets off the detector.

I didn't mean to be snotty. There are such disparate levels of "good" that it's hard to answer that question. Bass are fine. Kenneth Cole or Cole-Haan shoes are nicer and 2 or more times as expensive (and about my speed). Truly excellent bench-made dress shoes can cost several hundred dollars a pair. It all depends on what you need and what you can afford. Bass really are perfectly decent, they just aren't stellar.

Exactly. I would NEVER buy shoes that I haven't tried on. Trust me on this, I have years of experience going all the way back to when I was a kid, and my parents tried buying me shoes for presents. No shoe that was given to me, or bought untried, has ever fit correctly.

Not only does size vary among makers and models, but some brands of shoes may be incompatable with the shape of your foot.

agreed, always go try it on first to see if it feels right. I have a pair of 4 year old Bass shoes, still in great condition. I have to replace the lace soon, but it's comfortable and not too stuffy.

I feel compelled to throw in a plug for Born shoes, which are the most wickedly comfy shoes on the market IMO. They are not pure dress shoes, but have plenty of reasonably dressy models, and are very reasonably priced (typically $100) for the quality and comfort, which to me are right up there with insanely expensive European walking shoes like Mephistos.

Don't you have to do that with all your shoes now? Take them off and put them on the belt to be xrayed.

Helmut Lang, John Varvatos, Lorenzo Banfi, and Cesare Paciotti are a couple of designers with great dress shoes.

I think its better to have 3-4 pairs of excellent quality shoes rather than having 10 cheap ones. I would look spending some $$$ into shoes if you want to look professional.
