well i was just about to plug for these babies but then read a couple of customer reviews....alot of people seem to say the bass isnt as in your face as say sony's MDR-EX71SL's

i do like good quality audio, and i do like nice thick bass. the E2C's are about £60 so i wanna make sure i wont be too disappointed with them if i get them and the bass has no balls behind it.

bass level isn't that in your face. Definitely less than the cheaper ear plugs that are tuned for more bass but it's more mucky w/ less treble.
If you are a big fan of bass then you may not like these things, but I think that's a problem with a lot of ear buds.

I think sealing with ear buds is the key for max bass, the E2C's come with 6 pairs of interchangable seals 3 foam 3 sillicone. Looking at the MDR I can't believe that they would seal better than the shures. The shures seal like ear plugs at least with the sillicone plugs.

Over all I'm happy with them but I do think there is room for improvement

the sonys are pieces of ******. Only ipod idiots suggest them. My brother had a pair and I got a pair for my GF. They don't sound good, nor are they durable. I have e2c and I like them. Although I do suggest the Panasonic HJE70. Comes with a titanium case, metal earbuds that clip together, and more comfortable to wear then e2c. Also they have well balanced sound. Btw, I have an ipod myself, I just think a majority of ipod users are ****** retards. For examples go to www.ilounge.com. " I have a sweet setup that sounds as good as the cd, line out from my ipod into a CASSETTE ADAPTOR. Sounds so good!" ::rollseyes::

Get a good seal to get bass out of e2c, otherwise i think you will be dissappointed.

I have to agree that the Sony earbuds are not durable. I've had at least 2 of them break. Either the left or right side will stop working. I believe it's the wiring.

My Sony MDR-E888s have been great. I've had them for at least 3 years and been carrying them around in my pocket with no problems at all.

The bass is very deep, especially when you push the buds in a little further. I've compared them to several different headphones like the Senn PX100 which has better bass but not as good treble and midrange, IMO.

I'm definitely going to buy another set when the time comes. I've heard good reviews of the MDR-EX71SL's but have never tried them. I have tried the E51s and was very disappointed with the bass (used them back to back with my E888s and Iaudio X5).

bass on e2c wasn't appealing to me. The overall sound quality was lacking to me. I own a pair of Westone UM2's and those are a decent investment. If you really like the bass comming out of the EX-71s. I highly suggest you try out the Superfi Pro 5. Those are MUCH better

I have Sony MDR-EX51LPs (cheaper 71SLs, plastic instead of rubbery) and the bass on them is actually less than that of the E2C. People always told me the Fontopias had in your face bass, I never heard any in your face bass. I heard loud, annoying, boomy sh!t in the 500 Hz area, but no real bass. Also, the fit on the Fontopias sucked, the stupid things always slid a bit out of my ear, they never stayed inside. My E2Cs on the other hand, with the large foamies, are perfect. With a proper seal, there's some real boom in the bass, not the annoying farting/thumping of crappy earbuds and the Fontopias. On top of that, the Shures really do get the mids alot better than the Sonys do, something Shure is known for. Thinkin of selling them and getting E4Cs, I love em that much, I wanna see what Shures better earphones sound like.
