Bass in car is busted

Yes, so my brother decides to blast the bass to the max everytime he drives. Now all I hear, even with a little tiny tiny bit of bass is annoying loud metal sounds.

It's a 1999 Durango with an Infinity sound system. the woofers are on all 4 doors, or at least thats where it's coming from...

I dont have a clue about these things, anyway to fix it without buying new subs?

Your woofers aren't on your doors. Speakers maybe?

i guess so... its a very loud clingy metal sound. happens with the bass... i can control bass, treble and mid from the console and when there is no bass it doesnt happen and increases when there is more bass

sounds like the speakers are more or less blown. time for new ones. It happens when speakers in cars get old. 😉

First let's settle this.
Do you have a huge box in the back that contains a subwoofer that is hooked up to an amp?

If not, then you only have regular speakers and some, though not necessarily all, will need to be replaced.

Well then, you need at least one, maybe more, new speaker(s).

One way to test it that *might* work is to send all of the power to the individual speakers. I.E. Power all to the front and then check the right and left and then repeat for the back.

yea i just did that actually, they all need to be replaced

to me it sounds like the bass vibrations vibrated something loose. crank the stereo to the max with everything at flat or level. if you have any static then that speaker is blown

stock speakers where never meant for blasting bass all the time. thats why they have after market speakers and bass blockers

Well, there ya go. Have fun designing a new system. Rip out that stock system and put in something nice. I  Blaupunkt systems. 🙂
