Bass experts - what's going on with my subwoofer?

Update: I called tech support, who said that a limited quantity of those woofers were bad due to some manufacturing process (forgot the technical details). They are sending me a new woofer and covering return shipping on the old one. w00t! 😀

My Dayton Titanic III kit just arrived yesterday. I was pretty excited; I just moved out of my old apartment, which means I can have a real sub instead of bass shakers (bass shaker kit for sale, PM if interseted 😀). Anyway, I got it all built and fired it up, only to hear a weird rattling sound. I played with it a bit before bed last night and again this morning. I unscrewed the woofer (it has a gasket seal) and tested it out on it's own, no rattling. I put it in the enclosure without the screws, sounded okay. I screwed it in, started sounding funky. There's no air leakage anywhere. The weird thing is, when I push on the bubble ring surrounding the cone (sorry, don't know the term), it temporarily goes away. Here's a movie of the sub in action (sorry, low light):

Any ideas? 😛

Yeah, but I get faster answers over here 😀 I'll post over there too, then call PE tech support if nobody knows what's up.

Update: Called PE tech support, they said a limited quantity of those specific woofers were having problems. They're sending me a new woofer, which will be here Friday, as well as covering return shipping of the old woofer. Dang, this is probably the most well-organized company I've ever dealt with 🙂

Don't let the company you bought that from see that video if you try to replace that sub at any point. Pushing in on the driver like that is not good for it.

Making that noise is not good for me 😛 They confirmed that it was a bad coil or whatever because they had had reports of that happening in other woofers of that make/model before. They're sending me a replacement woofer (it's a DIY kit). Sounds great when it works, lol.
