Bass blocker help needed

Not sure if this should go here or in mobile so Mods feel free to move it.

I am installing new speakers in my Honda Fit and I want to block out the bass. I know Crutchfield sells BassBlockers premade, I just have an issue with paying $10 for what is a simple cap and wire.

My quick and dirty math says I need a 265 microfarad cap for my 4 ohm speakers can someone please double check me.

A 500uF cap will work fine (around an 80Hz cutoff with a 6dB/octave rolloff)

Yup, this works fine. I used a 470uf "non-polar electrolytic) for a 6db/octave rolloff. Spkrs all have 4 ohm characteristic impedance.

Note that this WILL alter the phase of the speakers. In my experience it wasn't notiecable as the phase change at <250hz isn't really audible. However, when I started doing funky stuff with cap and inductor networks up around 2khz - THAT was completely audible.

The extra low end isn't disappearing though, its getting seen by the amplifier as highly (reactive, which is not the same as resistive, its essentially stored for a bit and sent back to along the amp) effectively its not flowing through the wire. Shouldn't be an issue.
