Came across this while browsing at Monoprice, only one review so I'm guessing it's pretty new. Doesn't mention any apps but does say:
Note: The firmware is open/neutral and supports Java, allowing full customization of the system by tech/programming saavy users.

As a bonus it's one of the rare units that has analog audio outputs for anyone who might need them, here's their quick specs:

Supports 3D blu-ray disc playback
Simultaneous analog and digital audio and video output (full 1080p on the HDMI output and 480i on the composite output)
Analog 5.1 channel audio output jacks
Composite video with L/R analog stereo audio outputs
Digital coaxial audio output
Wired and wireless internet access for BD Live content
Front panel play/pause, open/close, and power controls
Individual speaker control in setup, including crossover frequency for the subwoofer output
Support for BD Java interactive content
Can use USB external drive for BD Live storage
Uses USB external drive for playback of audio, video, and image media
Support for media playback on DVD data discs
Open/Neutral firmware with Java support
Region free playback of PAL or NTSC coded DVDs

Would likely be a great parent/grandparent item or even maybe for a kids room...

Does that mean it's a region free player, and can play region 1 and 2 DVDs and blu-ray?

Edit: After reading, appears it can't play region 2 blu-ray, but can play region 1 and 2 DVDs.
