What do i need to do the following:

I have a desktop on ethernet connected to a 2Wire DSL/WiFi Router connected to a 5 port ethernet switch. I also have an other desktop down the hall connected with ethernet and a laptop in the other half of the house connected with WiFi 802.11b and it is out of range and cant get a signal when its moved around in that part of the house.

What i want to do is put the desktop in the hall on the wireless system and extend the range so that the laptop can move around. Do i need a repeater/base station only? Do any repeater/base stations have a ethernet jack? I dont really care if the hall way desktop is wireless, i just dont want Cat5 running down the hall. Can i buy one of those 1 port Lynksys basestations?

Just buy a cheap 802.11b router with built in switch, turn off DHCP so that it basically acts like an access point with switch. Make sure it's on a different wireless channel then the DSL radio.

Then you plug the cable running down the hallway into the new AP, run a second cable to the PC down the hall so it's on the LAN, and the new location of the AP should cover the rest of the house...

Of course, this is assuming that the new location of the AP would cover the rest of the house.
