Basic Video for Newbs or first time computer builders.

1. He wasn't grounded at all, wtf?
2. YOU DO NOT START WITH THE MOBO!!! You prep the case first THEN get the mobo assembly ready (cpu ram etc).

that guy didn't say one complete sentence without pausing.

EDIT: i think the video would have been better if he didn't talk and just showed text on the video.

I like how he tried to force the 2nd memory module into the slot backwards. Or how he's using a cardboard box as the work space. You can see the motherboard bending as he's putting in the RAM.

LOL at "They've changed the lock down system... made it more advanced." This is followed by him hovering the fan connector for the HSF over the motherboard, almost as if this helps him find the cpu fan header. Why is he working on a cardboard box? If the case was coming in the next day, why not just wait and do the build/film including the case?

Huh. At least he didn't try and power up his motherboard while it was sitting on the antistatic bag. I've seen too many idiots do that. LOL at how he used the cardboard box for assembly and almost put the RAM in backwards.

True, he did things that I would have screamed at myself for doing, but I give him credit for putting out a video on pc building.
I congratulate his SPONTANITY to put together a video at all. I've seen the pro stuff, but I thought Opteron Guy's video show was unique, at least tried his best.
Maybe with a little positive criticism, one could do better next time. I'm pretty sure that a sturdy platform and grounding oneself properly will be improvements.
I made a few mistakes on my first video and building my first rig too, but I had friends who helped me. Why can't we all be friends?

I never ground myself either. Haven't killed anything yet (knock on wood)

I also prep the mobo first, but then, I have a case with a mobo tray (and only use cases with mobo trays 😀 )

Edit: didn't realize part of his mobo prep is putting the vidcard in before securing the mobo to a case/tray. I tried that once, it's kind of awkward.

I use Lian-Li cases for myself and other builds because of the removeable mobo tray, on a solid surface.

I can't even think of not having a removeable tray, ever. I follow the right procedures and haven't shorted out anything so far.

Mechbgon is an excellent site for newb's.

This was almost as bad as an article on how to build a PC that I read in some magazine. It had step by step instructions on how to install parts, and it also had some information that told you how long it should take to do each step. I stopped reading it when "Now you install the DVD/CD drive. That is, the parts that read your discs. This installation should take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour"

However, why does someone from here not make a video on how to build a pc?
