Basic tutorial/rundown of IPSec & VPN's ?

I'm looking at setting up a VPN to bridge a segment at work with mine here at home, as well as prevent sniffing on my wireless stuff. Anyone know of a site that gives a simple overview/explanation of how IPSec and VPN's work, especially in the 'home user' scenario (like say the linksys wap that claims VPN support).
I read the howto on linuxdoc, but as usual, its a linuxdoc.
