This seems like it should be very easy, but i can't figure out how it is done

A motorcycle and 58.1 kg rider accelerate at 2.3 m/s2 up a ramp inclined 6.8° above the horizontal. (a) What is the magnitude of the net force acting on the rider? (b) What is the magnitude of the force on the rider from the motorcycle?

The answers are
(a) 133.63 N
(b) (600 ± 10.0) N

I don't understand where part b comes from? any help?

58.1 x sqrt ( 2.3^2 + 9.8^2 - 2 * 2.3 * 9.8 * cosd(96.8) )

Hehe, that's why I didn't post too many details, it shows the calculations required but he'll still have to think about the problem to see where they come from. :)

bah. this is a hardware forum, but posts were being made that weren't hardware so OT was created. deals were also being posted so they created a forum for that, and people wanted to sell their stuff too! and a forum was made for that.

well, there's not a forum for this, and it will inevitably get posted. and it will go in whatever forum it can until a homework forum is created (if ever)

So why not ignore it? Just let it be, there's no point in coming in and complaining about it.

If we just did that we'd be hard pressed to find a thread that truly belonged here.

Move to relocate/delete this thread.
